Join us on September 6th for a Wine Tasting supporting the North East Ohio Purple Heart Homes . We will be having a Tasting Fundraiser to help the NEO Purple Heart Homes raise money for Lakewood Resident, Kenneth. By raising this money we will be able to help Purple Heart Homes remodel and renovate Kenneth's home. We will have 10-12 wines available to taste and appetizers to pair with the wine.
Here is some info on our client. His name is Kenneth. He is 81 years old – married – and retired from the Cleveland Police force. He is a veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam. He suffers from multiple fractures in his spine and complications as a result of being shot multiple times in the line of duty as a Cleveland Police officer on July 23, 1968. He and his partner were the first to respond to a call for assistance to a gun battle. As they left their car to assist another officer, their car was hit by a high power rifle round and the car exploded. Kenneth was shot multiple times and seriously injured, and his partner was shot and died of gunshot wounds to his face.
His wife suffered a stroke recently and now he also caring for her.
Purple Heart Homes Northeast Ohio Chapter has made arrangements to help them with the problems in their home that need attention so that they can live with dignity and safety. We will be replacing their roof to end the leak problems and completely remodeling their bathroom so that it will meet Americans with Disabilities requirements ( walk in/sit down shower, safety rails, etc ). They also need old and unsafe carpeting replaced so they do not trip/fall. In addition we would like to install a stairlift so they have easy access to their main bath and bedroom on the second floor.
We will begin the roof replacement this month, and then schedule the remaining projects once we have a secure and dry home for them.
